My youngest child left for college last week. I have

felt the sadness as one by one, my children have left

home for college and marriage. Apron strings are re

luctantly cut as they begin a life apart from me.

There are strings which remain, those sewn together

by the Holy Spirit knit in the womb at birth. These strings can

not be broken because they are divinely given to love

unconditionally and to remain forever. They are

strongest at moments when it seems love is lost.

Even death cannot destroy the cords of love. The ties

remain and grow ever faithful. Hope awaits their reunion.

My dear friend lost her only child and only grandson

tragically. What unimaginable pain and sorrow for

ones so dear. Although her nest is truly empty and apron strings

ripped and torn, her heart strings continue to

love, looking to a future with them in Heaven.

1 Corinthians 13:12 says,

“For now we see through a glass darkly; but then fae to face:

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three;

but the greatest of these is love.”

On this twenty-first of July, I am writing a blog which I have envisioned ever since I first learned of blogging. It has taken time to gain the courage to put my personal feelings and thoughts out there for others to read. The blog is dedicated to Tina, my daughter , who died tragically nine years ago, July 21, 2002. Today, all of us who knew and loved Tina, choose to reminisce of days gone by, memories of life when Tina was amongst us. Gone is the rehearsal of the happenings of that tragic time. Rather, the joy and fun of our varied experiences with Tina is what we strive to remember, is what we long to recall.

As this blog grows, I hope to offer some solace to those who find themselves in the grip of grief. There are no answers to the question,”Why?”. When agony of disappointment seeks to attack our very emotions, threatening to suck the life out of every day, my response to, ”No way!” Our hope is in the Lord who made Heaven and earth. It is His saving grace that sustains and encourages us to truly live. I would not have survived without Him, because He carried me through.

Dennis plays and sings a song by David Ingles, The word are as follows:

“I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You”

If I’d survey all the goodness that comes to me from above.

And would I count all the blessings from out of the storehouse of love,

I’d simply ask for a favor of Him beyond mortal kin,

I’m sure He’d grant it again and again.

I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day.

When persecution and disappointments have all vanished away,

There we’ll enjoy all the beauties where all things are new.

I want to stroll over Heaven with you.

So many placed of beauty we’ve longed to see here below,

But time is a treasure and has kept us from making plans as you know,

But come that morning of rapture, Together we’ll stand anew,

And then I’ll stroll over Heaven with you.

So, here’s to you, Tina. May we all glean from your life and celebrate the One who gave you to us. In the midst of his grief, Job states, ‘The Lord gives and takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord’

I welcome your response.

Stephanie
